i hate how people are discouraged from using the term “autistic person”. Like, I don’t mind if an autistic person uses that term or “I have autism” about themselves, but I’ve heard of teachers and other staff being told they absolutely must refer to us as “people with autism” and could get in trouble if they don’t
And then we get corrected when we tell them what we prefer. Like, no, autistic people should have the right to refer to ourselves the way we want to. Autism is not a separate thing to us, it literally makes us who we are. Stop encouraging people that that’s a bad thing
